Why not?

This was my lovely 1977 Suzuki GT750B. It is now enjoying life in sunny Dawlish with it's new owner.

I bought this machine in 2006 from it's original owner in Tennessee whilst I was working there. It had 3012 miles on the clock and was original apart from having a 3into1 exhaust system and K&N air filters fitted and having had all the cheesy screws replaced with Allen headed set screws and bolts. These were fitted at 500 miles by the supplying dealer. The original exhaust came with the bike and I immediately refitted it and an airbox I found on ebay, rejetting the carbs back to standard at the same time. It ran well but leaked a little oil from the crank seal tell-tale if ridden hard.

Because this bike is so nice (and original now in every way) I decided to buy another one to run around on. Like a fool, I polished this one and just looked at it until I brought it back to the UK, only to find the crank seals now poured oil out when I ran it in anger for the first time. I have a little experience with the tools so pulled the motor and had the crank rebuilt by Paul Vetere at PJ Motorcycles in Wolverhampton. He did a splendid job and my rebuild went smoothly so now it's as good as the day it left the factory. Everywhere I take it it draws a crowd and people love it's original condition.

Just look at the pictures. The bike is not concours show standard restored and polished to the nth degree, it is absolutely original and in very, very nice condition. The original toolkit is with it, as is the Suzuki servicard, original bill of sale, import papers and UK V5. It was MoT'd on April 30th 2009 with 3515 miles on the clock and taxed the following day.

The pictures were taken in Tennessee and the silly blue carb tube clips have since been replaced with NOS ones. I've also refitted the original rear shocks which have some surface rust on the inside of the springs and the kickstart has also been refitted (although never needed). I'd take some fresh pics but as usual it's raining so this baby's staying inside!

So, why was it sold? Because I had other bikes to play with and SWMBO wants a Triumph Stag, she doesn't do bikes. Actually we both want a Stag, we always have and now the kids are independent (at least from a transport perspective) we can do what we want to at last!
